Over a period of several years I have heard that George Soros funds a variety of liberal causes here in America.

Last year I spent some time doing research to learn how to publish my upcoming book, I ran across an article written by a gentleman who said he was doing a research project about the publishing business as well. (I believe his research was done in the 90's.) I was researching the industry for myself, but he was doing his research for someone else. He was doing his research as an overview of the publishing industry in America for none other than…George Soros.

It made me wonder why George Soros would be concerned about publishing practices here in the United States. My research led to a discovery of Mr. Soros’ history, his goals, and his power. It also made me wonder what his legacy will be.

George Soros History

George Soros was born August 12, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary to Jewish parents.His given name was György Schwartz. Tividar Schwartz, George’s father, gave up his Jewish heritage during World War I as a Russian POW. He adopted an alternative worldview. One in which globalization was a priority.

In 1936 Mr. Tivadar Schwartz saw the upcoming threat posed by the Nazis. He changed the family name to Soros for their protection. In 1944 he had a government official take George in and say that he was a Christian foster child.

George escaped to England and received a degree from the London School of Economics in 1952. He moved to the United States in 1956.

In the seventies he established a private investment company that eventually evolved into the Quantum Fund. George Soros, speculating in the world of finance, has become very wealthy. He is supposedly the 80^th richest man in the world with a net worth of $7 billion dollars.

In 1979 George Soros began the Open Society Fund to support leftwing causes.⁽¹⁾ In 1984 he began establishing foundations in various countries. In 1993 he created the Open Society Institute, the umbrella under which his foundations operate. His website says they operate in 50 countries.

Just as Tivadar Schwartz desired a global governing body, my research leads me to believe his son has the same objective. I believe George Soros wants a global governing body, one in which he actively participates.

Besides his own Open Society Institute, George Soros supports many other international organizations. The website web.inter.nl.net calls him the “chief financier of the Human Rights Watch (HRW).” He supports Amnesty International(AI) and he is on the executive committee of the International Crisis Group (ICG).

The Open Society Institute (OSI) cites their objectives:

(We seek) to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and social reform. On a local level, OSI implements a range of initiatives to support the rule of law, education, public health, and independent media. ⁽²⁾

The other international groups cite various good causes that they support as well. What is not so clear from first glance is that these organizations support a wider agenda. It appears that these organizations fall pretty much in line with George Soros’ agenda. And what is that agenda? Srdja Trifkovic states in his article "George Soros, Postmodern Villain" that Mr. Soros

"…supports increased government spending and tax increases, drug legalization, euthanasia,open borders and immigration, immigrant entitlements, feminism, free abortion on demand, affirmative action, and 'gay' rights. He opposes the death penalty in any circumstance.”⁽³⁾

Let’s take a look at how Soros-supported international organizations promote one of these positions, abortion on demand. (In the first two examples they are pressuring political leaders to promote pro-choice policies):  

In a letter from the Human Rights Watch to the President of Argentina they recommended that he, “publicly support women’s rights to immediate unhindered access to safe abortion.”⁽⁴⁾

The International Crisis Group, whose stated mission is to prevent worldwide conflict, sent a letter to the government of Liberia recommending they reform “laws that restrict women’s rights and draft() progressive…legislation”  which includes reproductive rights.⁽⁵⁾

The Open Society Institute lists several million dollars in grant money which they have given to pro-choice groups. They are in support of partial birth abortions, as they gave the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York “$1,750,000 to defend against ‘partial birth’ abortion legislation and other threats to reproductive rights.”⁽⁶⁾

I watched George Soros being interviewed and he appears to be good at dodging questions he does not want to answer. One thing that came through loud and clear, though, was that he wants an international governing body to oversee the affairs of the world. He doesn’t like the fact that five vetoes can effectively stop a UN resolution. He said that the solution for the war in Iraq would be for an international governing body to oversee what happens there. He claims that this international body would have a strong United States component, but the United States would need to bow to the demands of this International tribunal. Because the Democratic Party espouses many of George Soros’ positions and also because they are more willing to compromise our national sovereignty George Soros desperately wanted a Democrat in the White House.

George Soros Power

The Australian International Studies Association published the book Counter Revolution: The Politics of 'Perestroika' by Dr. Vera Butler. The book refers to Russia when it states, "it is important to understand how it was possible that a powerful and richly endowed state could be destroyed without a shot being fired."⁽⁷⁾

Dr. Butler is an interesting character. I am assuming she is the same Vera Butler who spoke on more than one occasion before the Atheistic Society of Australia, once in 1998⁽⁸⁾ and again in 2002.⁽⁹⁾ She wrote a piece for the Australian Rationalist about how cults, in which she includes Christianity, are harmful. She has also written an article⁽¹⁰⁾ for the North Star Compass, a Communist periodical published in Canada.

In the article Dr. Butler says "we, the people of Russia" so I assume she’s a Russian citizen. She takes great offense against someone who would destroy her homeland. In the North Star Compass article Dr. Butler gives George Soros the credit for a litany of changes in the world during the past two decades. After much reading about the man I don’t think Dr. Butler’s claims are farfetched.

Dr. Butler believes that Mr. Soros is to be credited with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the ensuing problems in that area. From her article I see that George Soros has a plan for shaping the minds of the next generation. Here are some of the things he did to carry out his plan in Russia:

#1. He set up foundations in the country through which he spread his propaganda, especially his distaste for a strong central government. He paid the workers in these foundations very well compared to others in the country. Therefore his followers felt indebted to his beneficence.

#2. He found the support of a few influential people in the country. He gained the support of a researcher named Gaidar and a politician named Chubais. According to Dr. Butler George Soros sent Yavlinsky, a government official, to the US to learn how to help the Russian economy.⁽¹¹⁾ Since Dr. Butler supports communism she took offense at importing a free market system, especially one run by George Soros.

#3. He used his foundation to disseminate educational materials. Heather Cottin quotes a 1994 Los Angeles Times article, "After 1990, Soros funds targeted the Russian educational system, providing the entire nation with textbooks."⁽¹²⁾

#4. He further targeted the schools. Dr. Butler says Soros developed a five year plan for the developing of Russian education and she quotes a Russian publication when she says, “For 1999, (he) planned to…reeducate rural teachers at a cost of …$100-150 million.”⁽¹³⁾

This reeducation was all under the influence of George Soros. At the writing of the article in September of 2002 Dr. Butler said, "the Soros Fund has initiated a programme entitled 'Tolerance' in Russian High Schools."⁽¹⁴⁾

Mr Soros holds a tremendous amount of power over the Russian society. Dr. Butler makes these sweeping claims.

(Soros) bought one billion dollars worth of shares in "Svyazizvest" – the corporation controlling the entire telephone communications in Russia. After this purchase, Soros said in an interview that his funds will actively participate in the buying-out of Russian oil and natural gas companies. It needs to be understood that the control over these sectors is not merely an economic operation, but is primarily (equal to) the political enslavement of the country.⁽¹⁵⁾

Soros has “taken over” the former Soviet Union but he did it covertly without ever needing to “fire a shot.” The example above is not limited to Russia. George Soros has Open Society Institutes in many of the former communist countries. Dr. Butler gives him credit for breaking up the country of Yugoslavia as well. These former communist countries were an easy target for Soros because the fall of communism made the countries unstable. George Soros has influence in several other countries around the globe.

George Soros' power is not limited to his educational reforms. He is known for his financial speculations earning him a lot of money at the expense of the people. He is known as the “man who broke the bank of England” and Vera Butler credits him with ruining the currencies of Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.⁽¹⁶⁾ Heather Cottin quoting an AP wire writes, “(he) has been blamed for the destruction of the Thai economy in 1997.”⁽¹⁷⁾

Edward Morrisey writes about George Soros on his Captain’s Quarter’s blog, “He seems more interested in how to break nations rather than help strengthen them. …(He intends) to force a sovereign UN-based government on the world rather than the nation-state model.⁽¹⁸⁾

George Soros Legacy

George Soros is now 79. What will his legacy be? Will his dream of globalization be realized? Will others carry on his vision for the world after he passes on? Those of us who enjoy our sovereignty as a nation need to be vigilant in preserving it. As we become aware of the threats posed by international organizations, we must not stand by and let it happen. Our representative form of government allows us to take part in the political process. Let us guard what we have for the sake of our country’s future. We can do that by electing leaders who believe in our sovereignty as well.

When George Soros asked someone to research the publishing industry in the United States was he just wanting to find the best publisher for his latest book or did he have something else in mind?
